Search by Subobject

Subobjects are subcategories within certain IMSMA items. Subobjects are normally displayed in table format. For example, the item Land includes the subobject Ordnance, which displays in the Ordnance table of a Data Entry Form and on the item’s Summary. You can run searches for these subobjects as you can for any other data in IMSMA.


For example, you can search for the following subobjects:

To add subobject criteria to a search:

  1. Click the Add button to add an attribute to an existing search definition.
  2. From the attribute list, select a valid subobject.
  3. SubObject displays in the operator list and is the only available option.
  4. Click the SubObject Search button.
  5. In the SubObject Search(Add) window, the Parent field displays the object, and the Search Target field displays the subobject.
  6. Select a condition (AND or OR) from the list in the search pane. For more information, refer to And Versus Or.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. The search criteria displays in the subobject search pane.
  9. Select an option from the attribute list.
  10. Select an option from the operator list.
  11. Enter a value in the text field, or click the Options button to select from a list of pre-defined values.
  12. Click the OK button.
  13. The subobject search criteria display in the search pane of the Search(Add) window.
