Data search can be achieved by ''[[Access the Saved Searches Window|running saved searches]]'', ''[[Search Items|using specific item searches]]'' or the ''[[Advanced Search|advanced search]]''.

A ''specific item search'' (search Land, search Activity, etc.) returns a list of all corresponding items that were entered in {{IMSMANG}}. The results list can be sorted out by clicking on the column headings.
The ''Item search'' a.k.a. ''Simple search'' it found in the ''Search'' menu and as indicated by its nick-name this search functionality it is only possible to use '''one'' criterion and '''one''' item.
 
The ''Advanced search'' allows for search definitions that correspond to more than one criterion and may include linked items. The criteria may also be grouped into advanced AND / OR groups.
''Saved searches'' are defined with the ''Advanced search'' functionality and are saved in the database for later use. This enables users to create advanced search definitions which may by all users.


The ''Advanced search'' allows for search definitions that correspond to more than one criterion and/or criteria group(s). Search definitions can include linked items (Victims linked to an Accident, etc.). A criterion consists of attribute, operator and value(s).


Searches defined with the ''Advanced search'' functionality may be saved for later use and are referred to as ''Saved Searches''. This enables administrators to create advanced search definitions which may by all users.
