But when the country starts to add their own options then the order in the DEF template is not automatically updated and the countries have to spend a lot of time to edit the templates.

If the widget type is combobox then there is a risk that users will no see / find the option that would like to use because the dropdown list appear to be in alphabetic order and what they should choose is in the end of the dropdown list in a random order.
The order is not really random. It is the field ''seqno'' in table ''imsmaenum'' that controls the order. Unfortunately * not all system options have seqno populated in the initial database* ''seqno'' is not populated when you add a value in the DIM and * it is not possible to update this field ''seqno'' via the DIM. Afghanistan and Sudan have all the enumeration categories updated in alphabetic order with Other, Unknown and Not Specified in the end of each category.
