There are three major options:
- connect to the Staging area database which has PostGIS extension
- using the PostGIS function pgsql2shp to create shape files from SQL views and/or the geo tables in the Staging area database
- connect to the so called sandbox which is the file based geodatabase which is used by the IMSMANG application.
The sandbox is used by the IMSMANG application and changes to it and/or the mxd file that is used by the IMSMANG application for rendering the geographical information in the Map pane may cause errors. Therefore it is strongly recommended to use the Staging area database for all GIS analysis and map production. |
