Similar to the zoom-in button (page 24), the zoom-in and recentre button, , displays a smaller map area at a larger scale. Unlike the zoom-in button, the button also recentres on the point that you select on the map. To recentre and zoom in on the map:

  1. Click the button to enable the map control.
  2. Select the area on the map that you would like to zoom in on and recentre the map:
    1. Click the map.
    2. While holding down the mouse button, drag the mouse to form a rectangle around the map area you would like to select.
    3. Release the mouse button.
    4. The selected map area is displayed at a larger scale in the centre of the map pane.
  3. To disable the map control, select another GIS map control.
Use the button to zoom out and recentre from a point.
