IED classification is included in the Ordnance Classification in {{IMSMANG}} as an inspiration for IMSMA administrators to get started. More information on Ordnance Classification and other Auxiliary data may be found '''[[Auxiliary Data#Ordnance Classification | here]]''' for users and '''[[Standardising Auxiliary Data#Ordnance Classification | here]]''' for administrators.

But as said above, these categories, subcategories and models are an inspiration and should be customised for each country. The table below is an example of expert categorisation in greater detail based on technical components of the IED.

An IED in a car where the trigger/switch was of type ''infra-red active'' to be activated when the victim opened the door would then be:
# Category = IED
# Subcategory = Vehicle-Borne IED
# Model = Infra-red active Victim Operated VBIED

# The new field ''Statistic Group'' has been added in order to facilitate flexible reporting. }}
