All users have access to the IMSMA Navigation window.

After you successfully log into IMSMA, the first window displayed is the IMSMA Navigation window. The IMSMA Navigation window is the main window from which all of IMSMA’s features are accessed. The window contains a menu toolbar, a status bar, and three panes: the country structure pane, map pane, and items pane.

Figure 9. IMSMA Navigation Window Panes

  • The country structure pane is located on the left side of the IMSMA Navigation window. The pane displays a list of the local country structure in a tree format. After you log in, the country structure tree displays the first and second levels of the local country structure. For more information on the country structure pane, see page 13.
  • The map pane is located on the right side of the IMSMA Navigation window. Initially, it displays a map view of the highest level of the country structure. For more information on the map pane, see page 15.
  • The items pane is located at the bottom of the IMSMA Navigation window. The items pane contains tabs that display data about locations, hazards, hazard reductions, accidents, victims, MREs, and QCs. Data will not display in the items pane until you select a country structure from the country structure tree. For more information on the items pane, see page 30.

In addition to the menu and three panes, the IMSMA Navigation window has a status bar which is located at the bottom of the IMSMA Navigation window below the items pane.

Represents a tip or note for using IMSMA Mobile. Note that there is a known issue with resizing the IMSMA Navigation windows. To work around this issue:
  1. From the Windows start menu, select Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Select the Appearance tab.
  4. Click the Effects button.
  5. Uncheck the Show window contents while dragging checkbox.
  6. Click the OK button to close the Effects window.
  7. Click the OK button to close the Display Properties window.

Menu toolbar

The menu toolbar displays at the top of the IMSMA Navigation window (Figure 10). The IMSMA menu options available to you will depend on your permissions. Menu options to which you do not have access will be dimmed.

The following tables describe the IMSMA menu options.

Country structure pane

The country structure pane lists the local country structure areas. After you log in, the first- and second-level country structures display in the country structure pane. You can select a country structure area from the list to display on the map and in the items tabs.

If a country structure area contains country structure areas within it, the icon displays to the left of the country structure name. The icon indicates that lower-level country structure areas are hidden from view in the country structure pane. The icon indicates that the lower-level country structure areas are displayed.
