This section provides instructions for linking item records of different types by using the Reconcile without Map button to select items from a list and by using the Reconcile on the Map button to locate items on the map.
To link an item record to another item record without using the map:
- From the Reconciliation tab of the Field Report Editor window, select the row associated with the item record you would like to reconcile.
- Click the [[Image: button.
- The Field Report Reconciliation window displays.
- Select the Link to Existing Item option.
- Click the OK button.
- The Pick Object Type window displays.
- Select the type of the existing item record from the Type of Object to Link to drop-down menu.
- Click the OK button.
- The Pick <Item> window displays. See Pick Item Window for additional information.
- Click the row for the item record that you would like to reconcile.
- Click the Assign button.
- The Define Association window displays.
- If desired, click the button to view the item record on the map.
- Do one of the following:

- Select the Replace Existing Item with Field Report Item option to completely replace all information on the existing item record with the information on the item record being reconciled.
- Select the Combine Existing Item with Field Report Item option to replace only certain attributes of the existing item record with those of the item record being reconciled. See Combining Item Records for additional information.
- Select the Link Existing Item with Field Report Item option to associate item records of different types.

- Click the OK button.
To link an item record to another item record using the map:
- From the Reconciliation tab of the Field Report Editor window, select the row associated with the item record you would like to reconcile.
- Click the button.
- From the IMSMA Navigation window:
- Select the field report item record from which you would like to define a link from the Report Items tab.
- Select the item record(s) to which you would like to link the field report item record from the appropriate item tab(s).
- Click the File:LinkItemRecIcon.png button.
- Click the button to view the item record on the map.
- Do one of the following:
If only two item records of the same type are selected, the Define Association window displays.
If only two item records of different types are selected, the Link Items window displays.
If more than two item records are selected, the Identify Selection window displays and lists all item records that are selected. Check the two item records for which you would like to define a link and click the Link button. Depending on the selection you made, either the Define Association window or the Link Items window displays.
- Select the Replace Existing Item with Field Report Item option to completely replace all information on the existing item record with the information on the item record being reconciled.
- Select the Combine Existing Item with Field Report Item option to replace only certain attributes of the existing item record with those of the item record being reconciled. See Combining Item Records for additional information.

- Click the OK button.
- Click the File:ReturnReconIcon.png button on the IMSMA Navigation window to return to the Field Report Editor window.
- Click the Save button on the Field Report Editor window.
- The Information window displays confirming the field report was saved.
- Click the Close button.
The newly defined link is added to the Report Items tab in the IMSMA Navigation window.
